Professional Radon Testing and Mitigation

Radon Facts
What is radon?
Radon is an invisible, ordourless and tasteless radioactive gas that occurs naturally when the uranium in soil breaks down. Lower indoor air pressure draws radon gas from the soil and into your home through openings like foundation cracks, construction joints, gaps around pipes, sump and floor drains
Impacts to your health
Radon gas decays into radioactive particles that can be inhaled. As these particles continue to break down, they release bursts of energy, which are absorbed by the lungs. This radiation can damage lung cells, and may lead to lung cancer
In Canada, radon is the 2nd leading cause of lung cancer, after smoking. Per Health Canada, ~3200 deaths occur annually from radon. This is 10x more than carbon monoxide - a hazard that receives much more attention

What are the current guidelines for indoor air?
Canadian guideline recommends keeping home radon levels below 200 Bq/m³. However, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the World Health Organization advises even lower levels of 148 Bq/m³ and 100 Bq/m³ respectively. Testing is the only way to ensure your indoor air is safe
